A short test drive would do for most of us before deciding on whether a vehicle is worth it or not, yet it took the Abu Dhabi police department nearly four years to decide on the Lykan HyperSport.
The Arab supercar first arrived in the UAE capital in mid-2015 for testing purposes, and it has recently received its stripes, with the moment being marked by W Motors with a few social media posts and a rather dramatic video.
Dressed in Abu Dhabi’s police livery and with roof-mounted emergency lights, the Lykan HyperSport will make its presence felt in the local police fleet. It may not be on the same level with the crazy police cars used in Dubai, but Abu Dhabi does have a few expensive cruisers, and the Nissan GT-R is among them.

The Lykan HyperSport is, however, both quicker and more powerful, with the 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine, developed by RUF, delivering 740 horsepower. The 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint takes a claimed 2.8 seconds and top speed is 245 mph (395 km/h). With only 7 units produced by W Motors, each one carrying a $3.4 million sticker price, it’s also one of the rarest and most expensive police cars out there.
W Motors eventually replaced it with the 800 horsepower, 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six Fenyr SuperSport. It needs only 2.7 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) and tops out at 245 mph (395 km/h). Production of the Fenyr SuperSport is capped at 100 units.
