The challenge had long been laid down. It was to be pro drifter Fredric Aasbo in Toyota’s latest Supra, against Mr. Peanut and the Planters NUTmobile in a battle of will versus weight.
As you can easily tell, this race doesn’t make any sort of sense on paper, seen as how the NUTmobile weighs a hefty 13,000 lbs (5,896 kg). However, $5,000 were at stake, aimed at the winner’s charity of choice, which means neither of the two brands was interested in backing down.
How was this not a blowout?
Despite being powered by a 6.0-liter V8 engine, the NUTmobile has the muscle of a “dry roasted, lightly salted fiberglass peanut shell”, which in the real world isn’t saying much.
The Supra on the other hand uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder unit, good for 335 HP and 365 lb-ft (494 Nm) of torque. Watching the two race should be similar to watching the 2018-2019 Phoenix Suns challenge the star-studded Golden State Warriors in a best of 7 series. Hypothetical Spoiler Alert: It would end in a 4-0 sweep in favor of the Warriors.

So who won? Well, let’s just say that two separate charities came out on top, despite the Toyota winning the race in a photo finish – all because Mr. Peanut pressed the “nut” button, which apparently resulted in a Fast & Furious type of sudden burst of acceleration for the NUTmobile.
Toyota raced for the American Heart Association and Bob Woodruff Foundation, while Mr. Peanut gave it his all for the Movember Foundation.
