Pedal cars come in pretty much all shapes and sizes, with the best of them costing more (!) than some real cars. This is the story with this California Spider Junior, which is expected to fetch quite a sum at auction.

Listed by RMSothebys for the Villa Erba auction that takes place at Lake Como, Italy, on May 25, it replicates the design of the Ferrari 250 California Spider on a smaller scale.

Made to “a very high standard”, according to the auction house, it’s finished in Argento (silver) and has a black leather interior. Details include yellow fog lamps, chrome trim, and even a windshield to keep the air draft away from the cabin.

It’s the little things that matter when it comes to this formidable toy, though, as it’s actually powered by a 110cc four-stroke engine that’s coupled to a three-speed transmission, with a reverse gear. It also features a limited-slip differential, independent suspension and Brembo disc brakes, as well as adjustable pedals, so its future owner will probably take it for a spin before giving it to their kids or parking it in the garage (or living room) for years to come.

The Ferrari ‘pedal car’ is strictly tied to Roger Vadim, a famous French playboy who lived between 1928 and 2000. Vadim was married five times and two of his spouses were Brigitte Bardot and Jane Fonda. The California Spider Junior was made to mimic the look of his car in the 1950s, and the celeb-ties should make it even more desirable.
