On sale since 2017, the seventh-generation BMW 5 Series is nearing its mid-life refresh, or Life Cycle Impulse (LCI) as the Bavarians call it.

However, the facelifted 5 Series G30 should arrive sometime in 2020, unless BMW surprises us and shows it at the Frankfurt Motor Show this autumn. To sweeten the wait until the reveal of the LCI, BMW will soon be releasing a 5 Series Carbon Edition.

Our friends over at Bimmerpost have broken the news and have also got hold of three official images of the special edition model. As the name suggests, the Carbon Edition is a sporty-flavored model featuring several M Performance Parts.

On the outside, the model gets the beefier M Sport Package complete with an array of M Performance carbon parts including the front splitters, front lip spoiler, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. Other exterior upgrades include 19-inch M Double-spoke wheels (664M), M brakes, M Performance rocker panel decals, M Performance matte black rear bumper trim, and unique Carbon Edition badge.

Inside, the only upgrade the 2019 BMW 5 Series Carbon Edition brings is the black Dakota leather upholstery with blue stitching. In the United States, the Carbon Edition treatment will be available for the 530i and 540i, including xDrive variants.

The price for the entire package is said to be around $4,668 and the market launch is expected in the second quarter of this year. We’ve reached out to BMW USA for more details and we’ll update this story as soon as we hear back.
