Rental car giant Enterprise has jumped on the subscription car service bandwagon and announced a plan which bundles together typical car ownership costs into a single monthly payment.

A selection of car manufacturers have started to offer subscription programs in recent years but obviously, Enterprise isn’t a car manufacturer and can’t offer consumers its own vehicle. Instead, Enterprise will give customers access to a number of vehicles from its fleet, including everything from sedans to SUVs and light-duty trucks. Customers will be able to swap out their vehicles up to four times each month at any Enterprise Rent-A-Car location.

The subscription service has initially been launched in Minnesota, Missouri, and Nevada and the service has been priced at $1499 per month plus taxes and fees in Minnesota. Customers need to sign up for a term of at least two months and new subscribers are required to pay a $250 enrolment fee.

The standard subscription package offers up to 3000 miles (4828 km) of driving per month and includes vehicle maintenance, roadside assistance, damage, and liability protection. Those using the Enterprise service will need to pay the first $1000 for repairs before the physical damage protection kicks in and subscribers will need to make monthly check-ins at a company Rent-A-Car location for vehicle maintenance.

“Consumers have asked us for long-term rental options that offer a new level of flexibility for when they need a sedan, an SUV or even a truck,” executive vice president of operations for Enterprise Holdings, Randal Narike said. “This service expands on our commitment to provide customers with innovative mobility alternatives that meet them where they live and work.”
