Dahler Calls Dibs On New BMW Z4 With 402HP Tune

Some tuners work faster than others, so while Manhart has teased its own interpretation of the new-gen BMW Z4, Dahler has already launched a bunch of upgrades for Munich’s new roadster.

We’ll start by telling you about the most important change, a small boost in power for the M40i model, whose 3.0-liter turbo-six is now capable of delivering 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque.

Dahler hasn’t released any acceleration figures, but the extra 68 PS (67 hp / 50 kW) and 120 Nm (89 lb-ft) of torque will likely shave off a few tenths of a second from the official 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time of 4.5 seconds. With the speed limiter removed, the Dahler-tuned Z4 M40i can now be pushed to 300 km/h (186 mph), instead of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Those unfamiliar with the model might be tempted to say that changes have ended with the extra muscle. But they would be wrong, as this Z4 M40i features a sports exhaust system with 90 mm (3.5 in) tailpipes and lowering springs as well.

Look closer at the lower front and rear ends of the car and you will see a splitter with side flaps and a skirt, painted in a different shade than the rest of the exterior. These too are part of the tune, as are the forged wheels, 21-inch in size, shod in 245/30 and 295/25 tires, front and rear, from Michelin.

Dahler will come back to the latest Z4 with other components such as a height-adjustable sports suspension, new 20-inch rims and a glass wind deflector.
