Movie Mogul James Cameron Used To Own This Callaway Speedster

An exceptionally rare Callaway Speedster is being sold by the car manufacturer and engineering company.

During the hey-day of the C4-generation Chevrolet Corvette, Callaway got its hands on 10 examples and turned them into Speedsters. Each Callaway Speedster was outfitted with bespoke bodywork inspired by the 254 mph Sledgehammer Corvette, including a revised front end with new air intakes.

The windscreen of the Corvette was also replaced with a much smaller one to make the vehicle fitting of being dubbed a ‘Speedster.’

Each Callaway Speedster was fitted with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine delivering 402 hp and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque, figures which are not to be sneezed at even in 2019. While the engine of this Speedster isn’t any different to the others, this car is made particularly desirable as it was once owned by movie producer James Cameron and has only ever been driven 4,200 miles (6,759 km), not much for a vehicle from 1991.

The ‘Vette is painted black and the exterior looks to be in good shape and free of any noticeable scratches or dents. The tan interior also appears to be very fresh.

Callaway is looking to sell Cameron’s Speedster together with a 1989 Callaway B2K AeroBody Convertible which is said to be “low mileage.” The asking price for the pair sits at $300,000 but it remains to be seen if Callaway will consider selling just the Speedster. A look at the Speedster’s spec sheet lists a price of $185,525 back in 1991 which would be the equivalent of almost $350,000 on today’s money.
