With the all-new mid-engine Corvette around the corner, Chevrolet is getting ready to wave goodbye to its last front-engine, rear wheel drive model. The final example will be auctioned off at Barrett Jackson’s Mohegan Sun event in Connecticut, on June 28.
Marking the end of an era for the Corvette line, all proceeds from the sale will benefit the ‘Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation’, which was established in 2002 in the memory of Stephen Tiller, a NY firefighter who lost his life on 9/11. The foundation supports the first responders and critically injured service members in the United States.

“We’re honored that General Motors chose our Northeast Auction to sell this historic Corvette in support of the vitally important Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation”, commented Craig Jackson, CEO and chairman of the auction house. “Where one chapter ends, another begins. The sale of this final production C7 Corvette Z06 will be the opportunity of a lifetime to own a piece of automotive history. While it marks the end of an era, it also ushers in the beginning of the next generation of America’s favorite sports car.”
The car will be offered at no reserve and, like the exact replica pictured here, it will have a black exterior over a red cabin. The Z06 Coupe comes with the 3LZ package that adds a bevy of features including Nappa leather, custom stitching, carbon fiber and sueded microfiber-wrapped steering wheel, 8-inch infotainment system and others.
Power comes from a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that kicks out 650 horsepower. The unit is matched to a 7-speed manual transmission and in this configuration, the Corvette can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.7 seconds.
