Kia’s New Small SUV Interior Surfaces In Official Sketches

After teasing its exterior design last week, Kia has now released new official renderings that give us a first look inside their all-new small SUV.

The cockpit centers around a new 10.25-inch infotainment system with physical buttons. The touchscreen display provides access to a certain number of functions and sits in the middle of the dashboard, on top of the central air vents which, like the side ones, feature metallic surroundings.

The multi-function steering wheel is similar to the one used in the Stonic and behind it, we can see the traditional gauges flanking a digital screen. The controls for the electric windows and side mirrors are on the driver’s door, while elsewhere, the interior features carbon fiber imitations and more metallic trim on different surfaces, as well as a grab-bar on the passenger side.

“We have focused on designing a cabin unlike any other in the small SUV segment, with a greater sense of depth and richness to the design”, said Chief of Styling at Kia, Byung Chul Juh. “Our newest model will offer greater pleasure and satisfaction to our customers, with a premium-quality interior that benefits from sophisticated design details.”

This is an automatic version of the car, which also offers a sequential mode too. It also gets an ‘Off-Road’ driving mode, as highlighted by the button placed near the gear selector, as well as hill-descent control, locking differential and perhaps other functions that should help it on challenging terrains.

Heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, parking sensors and stop/start function will also be part of the package, alongside the Sound Mood Lighting, a tech that alters the ambient lighting according to the music played.

Kia will probably unveil their new small SUV in the coming weeks, as it’s scheduled to go on sale in South Korea in the second half of the year before launching in global markets shortly after.
