If you’re looking to get into a new Mercedes-AMG SL 63  you may want to hurry up as company officials reportedly confirmed to MercedesPassionBlog that production will end by next week. We also reached out to Mercedes, but have yet to heard back from the automaker

As for the reason behind the decision to pull the plug on the top-of-the-line version of the Roadster, it presumably has to do with the stricter emissions regulations that automakers have to comply with in Europe.

The SL 63, which still uses the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 instead of the newer 4.0-liter unit adopted by modern AMG 63s, has already gone through a power reduction of 14 PS (14 hp / 10 kW), in order to keep its carbon dioxide emissions in check. The Euro-spec model thus has a total output of 571 PS (563 hp / 420 kW), whereas the version sold in the United States gets 585 PS (577 hp / 430 kW).

In Germany, the SL 63 is no longer listed on the official website, but it’s still being offered in the UK, with a starting price of £118,095 ($149,710/€134,147). It has the ability to accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph), or 300 km/h (186 mph) with the optional AMG Driver’s Package.

On this side of the Atlantic Ocean, the roadster comes with an MSRP of $154,450 (€138,391), a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration of 4.0 seconds and a 186 mph (300 km/h) top speed.
