Infiniti is planning to enter new territories by introducing an all-new 7-seater luxury crossover designated the JX. Teased here in a blurry sketch, the mid-size model will be shown in concept form at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this August, and in production guise at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show in November, before going on sale in the U.S. in spring 2012 as a 2013 model.
“The all-new Infiniti JX crossover will allow us to continue to expand the Infiniti brand’s presence in the Americas,” said Carlos Tavares, chairman, Nissan Americas.
The Japanese automaker released very few details on its upcoming premium people carrier, but it is believed that the JX will be offered with a variety of engines and possibly, the option of all-wheel drive.
The crossover model’s styling appears to be in line with Infiniti’s latest concepts such as this year’s Etherea study. According to Infiniti, the JX’s greenhouse design will be influenced by the Infiniti Essence concept car that was first shown in Geneva in 2009.
“There aren’t a lot of choices for luxury families today”, said Ben Poore, vice president of Infiniti Americas. “The all-new Infiniti JX is the 7-passenger antidote to the ho-hum luxury crossovers that are out there right now”.
