With Genesis already hard at work testing next-gen G80 prototypes in the great outdoors, it was about time somebody put together a seemingly accurate rendering of everything we know so far about the upcoming saloon.
For starters, we know designers used the GV80 Concept as inspiration for some of the new G80’s styling characteristics, such as the large, stretched-out, Superman shield-like grille and the quad headlights with two horizontal units per each side. Though one thing we must note is that the grille looks more compact in the actual, real life prototypes than what you see rendered here from Kolesa.
A bold new look
This design is definitely different (and divisive) than what we’ve come to expect from the midsize executive saloon segment, which holds models such as the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-Series, Audi A6, Jaguar XF, Volvo S90 and others.
The G80 will definitely stand out among its more traditionally-styled rivals, although whether that’s a good thing remains to be seen – pricing will also play a very important role, of course.

At the rear, prototypes seem to indicate the presence twin light clusters, similar to what we see at the front, and also again like what we saw on the GV80 Concept. However, that might very well be the camouflage speaking, so we certainly can’t rule out a more traditional taillight design.
Other noteworthy styling elements include the sloping roofline, high waist line and door mounted side mirrors, all of which are present in this render.
Genesis will unveil the 2020 G80 this September, with a global rollout expected either towards the end of 2019 or by early next year.
