If you’re a fan of Zebra Corner’s ‘Real People, Not Actors’ sketches featuring Chevrolet and “Mahk”, then you’ll want to check out this latest installment which pokes fun at the 2019 Blazer.

The setup for the spot is pretty simple, with the host asking a group of “real people” to choose which voluminous items they would store inside the Blazer, and which they would put in another rival SUV. Safe to say, Mahk wasn’t having any of it.

With his typical Boston accent and sharp humor, he begins to really lean into the Blazer, saying things like how he’d rather store everything in the other SUV if his goal was to actually make it to his destination.

Earlier this year, Chevy’s Real People, Not Actors ad campaign came under fire when a consumer group called the carmaker out for misleading the public. The issue stemmed from a claim that Chevrolet was more reliable than Toyota, Honda and Ford, “based on a nationwide survey.”

Despite their laid back and soft-spoken dynamic, these types of commercials are actually quite aggressive from a marketing standpoint, and from the outside looking in, we really do have to wonder why Chevrolet would insist on making these videos when they already feature plenty of strong-selling nameplates in the U.S. (Silverado, Traverse, Impala, Camaro, Corvette).

In any case, asking the public to believe that actors aren’t present during these shoots is a huge stretch.
