We first saw the all-new Peugeot 508 SW at the 2018 Paris Auto Show and haven’t heard much about it since.
That’s because the French automaker is only now beginning to roll out its new D-segment wagon across ten European markets. To mark the occasion, Peugeot has released a massive gallery of more than 100 photos taken during the model’s media drive event in Portugal. As expected, they show every detail of the 508 SW.
As with the sedan, the 508 Sport Wagon is powered by a new generation of PureTech and BlueHDi turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines.

The petrol range consists of a 1.6-liter turbo-four available in two states of tune: PureTech 180 S&S EAT8 and PureTech 225 S&S EAT8. The former produces 180 PS (178 hp) and the latter 225 PS (222 hp), making it the most powerful engine in the lineup. Both are mated to PSA’s eight-speed automatic transmission.
Diesel fans have more choices as Peugeot offers two oil burners, with displacements of 1.5 and 2.0 liters. The smaller engine, officially known as BlueHDi 130 S&S, delivers 130 PS (128 hp) and comes either with a six-speed manual or the eight-speed auto. This is the only engine customers can have with a manual transmission.
The 2.0-liter unit comes in two flavors, BlueHDi 160 S&S EAT8 and BlueHDi 180 S&S EAT8, with outputs of 160 PS (158 hp) and 180 PS (178 hp), respectively. Each features the eight-speed auto as standard. All the engines comply with the Euro6.d-temp standard and are said to offer “best in class” CO2 emissions.
Besides these powertrains, European customers will also be able to order a plug-in hybrid variant from June 7. The 508 SW Hybrid version offers a total of 225 PS (222 hp) from a 1.6-liter turbo-four gasoline engine rated at 180 PS (178 hp) and an 80 kW (109 PS/107 hp) electric motor. The system also includes an 11.8-kWh battery that allows the 508 SW to cover 40 km (25 miles) in EV mode.
Tech highlights of the Peugeot 508 SW include the latest-generation Peugeot i-Cockpit as well as latest-generation driver assistance systems including the infra-red Night Vision system and adaptive cruise control combined with lane-keeping assist.
Prices for the Peugeot 308 SW start at €33,600 (approximately $37,400) in France.
