Audi has admitted that it is considering bringing the latest A6 Allroad to the U.S.

The high-riding estate was unveiled just a couple of days ago as the lifted and slightly more offroad-focused version of the latest-generation A6 Avant family. Speaking with Car and Driver, an Audi spokesperson revealed that the German car manufacturer is still thinking about bringing the car to the United States.

Audi has sold a small handful of Allroad models in the United States over the past couple of decades, including the C5-generation A6 model. However, the U.S. missed out on both the sixth- and seventh-generation A6 Allroads.

If Audi does bring the A6 Allroad Stateside, it will probably be powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine and start in the low-$60,000 range allowing it to nicely rival cars like the Volvo V90 Cross Country.

Should Audi go ahead with this plan, then other A6 Avant models would likely follow suit, perhaps even the potent RS6 Avant. Speaking earlier this year, Audi of America’s director for product, technology and motorsports communications, Mark Dahncke said the car manufacturer is “actively considering” bringing these Avant models to the U.S.

The A6 Allroad is distinct from other Avant models on a number of levels. For starters, it includes a bespoke exterior with plastic body cladding and is fitted with adaptive air suspension as standard. Depending on the driving mode selected, the car can have as much as 184 mm (7.2-inches) of ground clearance.
