Roadworks are usually marked by either reflective signs, traffic cones or small barrier boards, and rarely require drivers to perform any types of evasive maneuvers.

Of course, there are exceptions to these rules and as you can imagine, it can end very badly for unsuspecting drivers who suddenly find themselves face to face with a big whole in the road, which is exactly what happened earlier this month in Voronezh, Russia.

According to the video’s description, the incident took place on the Ostuzhev Street bridge, where someone thought it would be a good idea not to put up any reflective signs ahead, or clear out the debris surrounding the hole.

So what on Earth happened? Well, beyond a point what happened was that physics took over and a car was launched upwards before flipping over onto its roof. A second vehicle mounted the debris stack, yet managed to remain horizontal.

Ironically, the spot where the first car landed had warning signs to signal additional gaps in the road, not that it made any difference at that point considering the “booby trap” that preceded them. Thankfully, two individuals emerged from the overturned vehicle seemingly unharmed.

As for whether or not the driver of the silver car could have done something to avoid this crash – we’re tempted to say yes, because they only applied the brakes when the car made contact with the debris stack, which means they weren’t really paying attention. Also, while visibility may not have been great, an attentive driver might have been able to spot the obstruction and slow down in time.
