Chinese car manufacturer Xpeng Motors just announced it has built the 10,000th unit of its G3 all-electric SUV approximately six months after production of the model commenced in mid-December 2018.

Xpeng is one of roughly 500 electric car startups from China and one of the few to have actually started selling and delivering vehicles. According to the company, it delivered a total of 7,359 G3s between January and May. Buyers of the G3 come from all over the country and deliveries have been made to over 220 cities in China.

Establishing yourself as a successful car manufacturer requires more than delivering vehicles, though; it’s also a necessity to ensure that there are post-sale services centers to ensure vehicles remain on the road. Xpeng commenced its new retail sales program in April and plans on building more than 100 direct and authorized sales stores as well as a network of service centers by the end of 2019.

Xpeng also operates its own supercharging network in China and wants to have as many as 200 supercharging stations in operation by the end of 2019 and 1000 nationwide in the next three years. G3 customers can also use third-party charging stations across the country.

The Xpeng G3 was first unveiled at CES in January 2018 and immediately drew comparisons to the Tesla Model X. While the Xpeng’s exterior design is unique, its cabin does resemble that of the Tesla, especially with that large vertical infotainment screen in the center of the dash.
