18k Mile 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster Is Begging To Be Driven

What we have here is a Linen Grey Metallic 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster, with a dark blue soft-top, blue accents and a linen leather interior. Its 3.2-liter flax-six unit shows just 18,000 miles (29,000 km) on the clock and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The car is currently getting auctioned off on Bring a Trailer, and appears to be very well specified, featuring a limited slip differential, shorter gear lever, air conditioning, stereo amplifier and a black velour trunk compartment trim.

Its Turbo-styled bodywork includes the wide fenders, while the bespoke low-cut windshield makes the Speedster look more “hunkered-down” compared to regular Carrera models. The previously-mentioned soft-top is hidden behind a color-matched double hump panel, while the 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels with black centers and anodized lips work towards a more contrasting aesthetic.

The interior also features manually-adjustable factory sports seats, manual windows (as a weight saving option), an Alpine CD player and a dark blue dashboard design, a color that’s also found on the steering wheel and upper door panels.

As for performance, when new, the 911 Speedster’s flat-six unit was factory-rated at 215 HP and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque, while the car itself cost $73,235 to purchase.

Speaking of which, when it first came out, the 911 Speedster (full name Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Speedster) was produced in rather limited numbers with just 2,104 units being made available between January of 1989 and July of that same year.
