The world doesn’t need SUVs that can almost match supercars off the line. Then again, the world doesn’t really need a lot of things (supercars included), but we are nevertheless very glad they do exist – and one such thing is the Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
The thought of an SUV with a Porsche badge sent shock waves through the industry and, in the process, changed it forever, becoming a huge hit (and the company’s life saver) in the process. Weissach recently updated the latest-gen Cayenne to include a slightly sleeker variant dubbed the Cayenne Coupe – and man, in Turbo guise, is it fast.

AutoTopNL had the opportunity to test it on the Autobahn and put its power and performance to good use. Porsche has installed its eye-catching SUV with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 pumping out a total of 541 HP and 567 lb-ft (769 Nm) of torque. According to Porsche, it will reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill in a mere 3.7 seconds and top out at 178 mph (285 km/h).
Armed with a timing app, AutoTopNL was able to launch the Cayenne Coupe Turbo to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.93 seconds and 200 km/h (124 mph) in a very respectable 14.69. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, it also ran through to 185 mph (297 km/h) before running out of steam in sixth.
The in-gear acceleration of the Cayenne Coupe Turbo is also very impressive thanks to the healthy amount of torque it punches out; the 10.76 seconds needed for the 100-200 km/h (96-124 mph) sprint is telling.
