It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say the BMW 8-Series is the most beautiful car the automaker currently builds. You may disagree, of course, but it’s hard to deny that the 8-Series is stylish, even if it may not appeal to you.

As it turns out, however, the 8-Series looks even better as a Shooting Brake than it does as a sleek two-door Coupe.

This rendering from J.B. Cars shows the new 8-Series as a Shooting Brake and even though not much work was needed to transform the looks of the car, the results are profound.

To ensure the vehicle is fitting of being called a ‘Shooting Brake’, its roofline has been elongated to more closely mimic that of a sleek estate. The addition of this new roof would help to increase headroom for passengers using the car’s rear seats while also adding some extra cargo space in the trunk. Added practicality and improved looks? What’s not to love!

However, we’re doubtful that the new 8-Series will ever be sold as a Shooting Brake – unless BMW goes down the limited production road in cooperation with a design studio. In fact, it remains to be seen if a more practical Touring version could even see the light of day meaning a Shooting Brake is a near impossibility. That’s a shame, but fortunately, there are more than enough 8-Series models to satisfy the needs and desires of most customers, including the range-topping M8 Competition model. BMW also sells the new 8-Series in Coupe, Gran Coupe, and Convertible guises.
