The Ford Fiesta range has been reshuffled again in the United Kingdom, with the addition of the Trend model that replaces the Zetec.

The new trim level adds more gear, bumping the price by over £500 ($620/€560) to £15,995 ($19,797/€17,790). By comparison, the cheapest Renault Clio starts at £13,620 ($16,858/€15,149), whereas the Volkswagen Polo will set you back £15,735 ($19,475/€17,501).

Standard equipment that wasn’t previously available in the base Fiesta includes 16-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, halogen projector headlamps, chrome trim and metallic paint.

The Fiesta Trend also features the company’s latest infotainment system, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Ford MyKey, which can be used to impose several restrictions to younger drivers, such as top speed and max audio volume. Lane keep assist and intelligent speed limiter have been added as well.

The extra gear adds up to the already available body-colored bumpers, door handles and mirrors with electric adjustment, front fog lamps with cornering function, dusk-sensing headlights, ESP with Hill Start Assist, tire pressure monitoring system, heated windscreen, manual air conditioning, driver seat with manual height adjustment, trip computer and others.

Choosing the new entry-level Fiesta means having to settle for the 1.1-liter, three-pot. The petrol-burner produces 84 horsepower and is matched to a five-speed manual transmission, returning 62.4 mpg UK (4.5 l/100 km / 52 mpg US).

Ford is already taking orders for the new Fiesta Trend, which is available as a three- or five-door hatchback.
