New Dodge Challenger Widebody Convertible Is A Sure-fire Way To Turn Heads

A dealership in North Carolina is selling a grey Dodge Challenger Convertible with an MSRP of $63,995.

Those familiar with the current Challenger will know that Dodge hasn’t built a convertible version despite both the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro being available as droptops. Consequently, the dealership in question, Keffer Dodge, Chrysler, Ram and Jeep turned to customization shop Convertible Builders to create the car you see before you.

This particular Challenger started out life as a Challenger R/T Scat Pack and while it no longer features a fixed roof, it doesn’t appear to have undergone any other mechanical modifications. Consequently, it is still powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine churning out 485 hp and 475 lb-ft (644 Nm) of torque. Mated to this engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission.

As mentioned, the MSRP of the car is $63,995 and purchasing a ‘regular’ Challenger R/T Scat Pack with the eight-speed automatic transmission costs $47,840. Is the open-air experience of a convertible Challenger worth the $16,155 premium? We’re not so sure.

Nonetheless, the dealership clearly thinks there is demand for Challenger Convertibles as it currently has a second Challenger R/T Scat Pack Convertible for sale. That particular model is painted white and enjoys a lower MSRP of $59,780. The listing for the grey car asserts that the vehicle has just 1 mile on the clock while the white car has allegedly only been driven for 3 miles. While we’re not convinced the cars’ are worth the premium over a hardtop Challenger, we’re sure the V8 does sound nice without a roof.
