Aston Martin Ramps Up Production Of DB4 GT Zagato Continuation

Having handcrafted the first DB4 GT Zagato Continuation sports car earlier this summer for its public debut at Le Mans, Aston Martin Works has now begun building the remaining 18 customer cars.

According to the automaker’s latest update, no less than 10 cars are now in various stages of construction at the Heritage Division’s Newport Pagnell headquarters ahead of the start of deliveries in the fourth quarter of this year.

Production of the brand’s most expensive new car to date takes around 4,500 hours for each vehicle and has little to do with mass manufacturing. Detailed labor and meticulous handcrafting go into the DB4 GT Zagato in order for customers to get “the highest possible quality” combining old craftsmanship with the modern engineering advancements and performance enhancements.

The DB4 GT Zagato is the second Continuation project after the DB4 GT Continuation which was built in a limited run of 25 units starting in 2017. Following the completion of the remaining DB4 GT Zagato Continuation cars, Aston Martin Works will embark on its most ambitious continuation project to date: the Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger Edition cars that will come to market in 2020.

The DB4 GT Zagato Continuation is only sold together with the modern-day DBS GT Zagato under the “DBZ Century Collection” name for a price of £6 million ($7.24 million) plus taxes. First customer deliveries begin in Q4 2019 for the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation and in Q4 2020 for the DBS GT Zagato.
