Return Of The Sport Truck? Ram Considering Lowering Kit For 1500 Pickup

Ram introduced the 1500 Big Horn Low Down concept at SEMA last year and it appears the company could be eyeing production.

The concept was shown at the Woodward Dream Cruise over the weekend and Motor Trend says the company used to event to gauge consumer reaction to the lowered pickup. It was apparently a hit as brand accessories manager, Cheryl Woodworth, told the publication that a woman saw the truck and called her husband to tell him she wants one.

While that’s not possible at the moment, things could change in the future. FCA will reportedly decide whether or not to offer a lowering kit for the pickup later this year or sometime next year.

Unfortunately, it appears the kit will be a Mopar accessory rather than standard equipment on a limited edition. That could potentially change in the future, but it remains to be seen as the lowering kit hasn’t even been green lighted yet.

Unveiled last year, the Low Down concept was a Mopar-ized model which embraced “slammed-to-the-street style.” It featured a two-tone exterior with a custom “Brassphault” upper section which was contrasted by a lower Billet Silver body. The truck was also equipped with a performance hood, gloss black badges and Brass Monkey stripes.

Of course, one of the biggest changes was the addition of a prototype lowering kit which reduced the ride height by 2 inches (5.1 cm). This, combined with 22-inch alloy wheels, gave the truck an aggressive stance.

The modifications didn’t end there as the concept was outfitted with unique fender flares, a hard tonneau cover and 5 inch (12.7 cm) exhaust tips. Other notable features included polished door sill plates and a conceptual bright pedal kit.
