Corvette Enthusiasts Compile List Of Dealers Selling The C8 At, And Over, MSRP

Car enthusiasts don’t like it when dealerships sell new vehicles with steep markups in order to cash in on customer demand that far exceeds supply. Chevrolet fans are having none of this, though, and are fighting back.

From the moment the 2020 Corvette Stingray was announced with a sub-$60,000 starting price, everyone (rightly) proclaimed it a bargain.

It was also inevitable that some dealerships would start asking significant premiums for the first models they receive. So far, There have been reports of dealers slapping the new Corvette with markups of $30,000, or 50 percent above MSRP.

To combat this, Corvette Forum users have started to generate a list of Chevrolet dealerships throughout the United States who are selling the new car at MSRP and those who demand a premium. The order starts with those who have sold the most C7 Corvettes this year and goes down.

Many of the highest-volume Chevrolet dealerships are selling the Corvette at MSRP, which is good news for those looking to buy the new mid-engine supercar, but there are dozens who aren’t following suit. The list doesn’t specify by how much each dealer is asking over list, but it probably varies on a case-by-case basis.

Another long-awaited performance car that launched earlier this year is the 2020 Toyota Supra, and it too has been hit with huge markups, with one dealership infamously listing a Launch Edition for almost $200,000. Fortunately, it doesn’t appear as though premiums for the C8 Corvette will reach such ludicrous heights, because it doesn’t have a limited production run like the Launch Edition that will be the sole variant available until the “normal” versions arrive.
