The Mazda MX-3 is perhaps that Japanese coupe you forgot existed but after you watch the video below, we think the its name will stick in your head for quite some time.
This particular MX-3 is owned by an enthusiast in Canada, was recently featured on the Hoonigan Daily Transmission YoutTube channel, and could very well be one of the craziest modified vehicles we’ve ever come across.

Found at the front of the car is a turbocharged Mazda K8 1.8-liter six-cylinder outfitted with a massive turbocharger that’s driving the front wheels. Such an engine would make any MX-3 an absolute hoot to drive, but the owner wasn’t particularly pleased with the little grip he had from the front wheels. Thus, he decided it would be a good idea to install a 2.5-liter turbocharged V6 in the back!
Yes, that means this Mazda MX-3 has two engines, two turbochargers and twelve cylinders making for a total of 900 HP.
What’s particularly impressive is that the owner can drive the car in three ways: with the front engine on and the rear off, in which case he has FWD, the rear on and the front unit off, for RWD and some sideways antics if he so wishes, and, last but not least, both engines running simultaneously sending power to all four wheels and operating two individual gear shifters. It really is a sight to behold.
