The 2020 Lincoln Aviator directly rivals some of the finest premium SUVs from Europe, something which isn’t particularly easy. Has the American manufacturer done a good enough job with the Aviator to be talked about in the same breath as the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Volvo XC90, Audi Q7, and BMW X5? Doug DeMuro is here to tell you.

Perhaps the first thing we have to talk about regarding the Aviator is its exterior design. Styling is, of course, subjective, but we think most would agree that the Aviator is one of the most attractive SUVs currently on the market. Lincoln did a masterful job at creating a large and luxurious SUV that looks both premium and sporty. We happen to be particularly fans of its roofline and rear fascia that is dominated by cleared taillights and a horizontal red lightbar.

In the cabin, the new Aviator appears to be particularly plush, even when compared to its rivals. For starters, the Lincoln features electronic doors meaning rather than an interior door handle, all occupants need to do to open up the door is push a button and swing the door open.

DeMuro says the interior of the Aviator is very luxurious and filled with high-quality materials. One of the neatest features of the SUV are the inclusion of 30-way adjustable driver and front passenger seats that including various massage functions. The SUV’s leg supports are also adjustable for those who are a little taller than average. Another amazing element of the Aviator is the masterful 28-speaker audio system.

Making the Aviator all the more impressive is that it isn’t particularly expensive as pricing starts at a reasonable $52,195, a full $9,500 less than a 2019 BMW X5 sDrive40i.
