The 458 Speciale and 488 Pista are both extraordinary performance cars, but if we had to pick out our favorite stripped-down, V8-powered Ferrari, we would have to pick the 430 Scuderia.
Unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show, the 430 Scuderia was famously developed with the help of Michael Schumacher and launched as a direct rival to the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera.
It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.3-liter V8 engine that produces 503 HP at a screaming 8500 rpm and 347 lb-ft (471 Nm) of torque at 5250 rpm – and a stunning example with 9,400 miles (15,127 km) on the odo is currently up for auction on Bring A Trailer.

The first thing you notice is the gorgeous dark grey paint job and bright red racing stripes. Scuderia Shields on the front wheel arches (yes, they are not standard…) and optional red brake calipers that clamp down on 15.6-inch front discs and 13.7-inch rear discs complete the exterior look. The listing states that the car was recently fitted with new Pirelli P Zero Corsa System tires.
A peek inside reveals a cabin just as stunning as the exterior. The seats are clad in red and black Alcantara and cloth and there is additional red and black Alcantara throughout the cabin. The previous owner also went to the trouble of fitting an Alpine head-unit and two JL Audio speakers behind the seats. Not that they are really needed with that screaming V8 directly behind your ears…
There are still three days left at the auction, so there’s plenty of time to think about it and place a bid. Bear in mind, though, that at the time of writing, the top offer was $150,000, and we expect that to rise. Even so, it’ll be way cheaper than a Pista – plus, instead of the whoosh of turbochargers, you get to enjoy the unadulterated symphony only a naturally aspirated Italian eight-cylinder can produce.
