Following a spy video we showed you a couple weeks ago, this is our second sighting on the upcoming Long Tail version of the McLaren 720S, albeit in prototype form.
The uncamouflaged test mule you see in the pictures looks like it’s not wearing the final aero kit that will be fitted to the production version, but the roll cage in combination with the deeper front splitter, the extra winglets and the small Gurney flap on the rear spoiler point us at the right direction.
The finished item is expected to feature a large rear diffuser and an extended active rear wing, as befits a model bearing the ‘Long Tail’ moniker.

McLaren is expected to launch the 750LT sometime in mid-2020. The name is still unconfirmed, but considering previous and existing McLaren LTs however, pushing the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 from 710 HP (720 PS) to 740 HP (750 PS – hence the designation) sounds about right.
The 720S is already considered one of the fastest and most capable supercars currently on sale, irrespective of price. Making it even faster and more agile seems like a big challenge, but if anyone can pull it off, it would be Woking’s engineers.
Powertrain revisions will also include an updated seven-speed dual-clutch transmission for even faster gear shifts and a louder exhaust, while the trick hydraulic suspension will also get revised settings.
The LT transformation also includes a strict diet, with the interior getting stripped and fitted with ultra-light carbon bucket seats and racing harnesses. McLaren is expected to use some of the tricks learned from the Senna, but it will be interesting to see just how close they will allow the 750 LT to get to their prized hypercar.
