Now that there’s a mid-engine Corvette out there, older versions of the nameplate will undoubtedly begin to lose some of their appeal among buyers who value performance above all else.

However, if you want to be a little more original, you could start looking at something like this 2004 C5 Z06 model, fitted with AAT’s 1953-2003 Commemorative Edition conversion kit, which is meant to honor the looks of the C1 Vette.

The car is currently being auctioned off through Bring a Trailer and according to the seller, it is the 43rd such vehicle built by AAT (Advanced Automotive Technologies).

Its body is comprised of fiberglass panels, and features 17-inch wheels and the front and 18-inch ones at the rear, with tires measuring 265/40 and 295/35 respectively. Meanwhile, the brake calipers and rotor hats were painted red to match the interior.

Speaking of which, the cabin features a dual-tone red and black aesthetic, and houses custom parts as well as stock ones (like the seats and switchgear). Goodies include the dual-zone automatic climate control system, a Bose CD player, power windows and more.

As for performance, it’s safe to say that despite its classic looks, this car is no slouch. The 5.7-liter LS6 V8 unit works alongside a custom ProCharger P-1SC-1 supercharger, and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. While no power figures were provided, we do know that the engine has some 24,000 miles (38,624 km) on the clock.

Also, if you look closely you’ll see that the valve covers have been made to resemble those of an old Vette, which is a pretty neat touch.
