The new Abarth 595 Pista is on its way to the UK where it will set buyers back at least £19,135 ($23,811). In return for your money, you get a new Garrett turbo underneath the hood for a total output of 165 PS (163 HP)

Other mechanical features include the Record Monza Active exhaust system and the Koni rear suspension with Frequency Selective Damping technology (FSD). The latter is said to enhance driving performance by improving both handling and stability.

Meanwhile, the new turbocharger has a reduced geometric compression ratio (from 9.8:1 to 9:1), optimizing temperature within the combustion chamber. The result is a peak torque figure of 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) at just 2,250 rpm.

Inside, standard equipment includes a flat-bottom steering wheel, a Sport button for adjusting peak torque output, power steering settings and throttle, MTA gearbox with shift paddles, sports seats, but also the automaker’s Uconnect 7-inch HD system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus DAB digital radio.

Then there’s the braking system which is said to be specific to Abarth, featuring ventilated 284 mm discs at the front and 240 mm discs at the rear.

While the Pista does sound pretty fun from a performance standpoint, the 595 Esseesse model with its 180 PS (177 HP) turbocharged engine is still the one to have if you only care about getting the most power out of your tiny stylish Italian hatchback.

In the UK, the 595 Esseesse 1.4 T-Jet costs £25,295 ($31,485), while the 595C version will set you back £27,295 ($33,975). However, those simply looking to own an Abarth 595, can do so starting from £16,495 ($20,532).
