Volkswagen will soon pull the plug on the seventh-generation Golf, as its successor will celebrate its global debut later this year, probably in October. However, before that happens, VW has launched these new Mk7 Edition models in the United Kingdom, which offer more bang for your buck.
Named the Match Edition, GT Edition and R-Line Edition, they replace the Match, GT and R-Line, respectively, cost £400 ($499/€452) more and boost their value by over £1,500 ($1,871/€1,693) with added gear.
The standard equipment of their predecessors remains on deck, but the new models add LED headlights, two-zone climate control and the Winter Pack with heated front seats, heated windscreen washer jets and headlight washers.

“The Edition trim trio further strengthens the Golf’s appeal with a generous package of added equipment, boosting value by over £1,500 when factoring in the small revision in price over the outgoing Match, GT and R-Line trims”, said VW UK’s Golf Product Manager, Dale Piper. “The Golf already represents a compelling competitive value package, and the Edition trims only go to strengthen this.”
The German automaker is currently accepting orders for the new Golf Editions, which have been added to the lineup just a few weeks after the e-Golf became £2,765 ($3,450/€3,121) more affordable. Those who have ordered one of the three outgoing grades after September 16 will automatically be upgraded to the newer ones.
The Match Edition has a recommended retail price of £22,135 ($27,616/€24,986), while the GT edition and R-Line Edition are available at £25,260 ($31,515/€28,513) and £27,030 ($33,724/€30,511), respectively. Full pricing details are available in the adjacent image.
