It’s no secret that Audi is working on an assortment of new electric vehicles, but the company has confirmed plans to offer 30 electrified models by 2025.
A vast majority of them will be fully electric as Audi says EVs have “the best carbon footprint of all drive systems in the largest markets over its entire service life.” As a result, the company will offer 20 electric vehicles by 2025 including the e-tron which was launched earlier this year.
It will be followed by the e-tron Sportback which will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19th. Next year, the company will introduce the production versions of the e-tron GT and Q4 e-tron concepts.

While Audi is pouring a lot of funds into the development of electric vehicles, the automaker confirmed they’ll continue to develop conventional engines with a “focus on universal mild hybridization and the 48-volt electrical system.” The company will also launch an assortment of plug-in hybrids as the brand calls them an “essential element” of their electrification plans.
If everything works out, electrified vehicles will account for 40 percent of total sales by 2025. That’s a significant change from today, but the company clearly believes electrification is the future.
Audi vehicles won’t be the only thing going green. As part of today’s announcement, the company revealed they aim to be “climate-neutral” by 2050. As part of this effort, the automaker is focusing on a variety of efforts including the increased use of recycled materials and renewable energy.
Speaking of the latter, Audi will build the largest solar roof system in Europe on two of their logistics centers in Hungary. Audi says the roof will cover an area of approximately 1.7 million square feet (160,000 square meters) and generate more than 9.5 gigawatt hours of energy annually. The company says this is enough to power roughly 5,000 households.
