Audi was always going to have a challenge trying to replace the RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback because the previous-generation models were so good. But it looks to have built perfect successors for both.
Members of the press recently had the opportunity to test out the new Audi RS7 and the reaction has been very positive. The video below captures some stunning glamor shots of the car while also showing off its blistering performance. Audi employs the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine in the RS7 Sportback as found in the RS6 Avant. This powertrain also makes use of a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and delivers no less than 592 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm of torque). Acceleration from a standstill to 62 mph (100 km/h) is reportedly dealt with in as little as 3.6 seconds, according to Audi, but this video reveals the vehicle is even quicker than claimed.
Auditography outfitted the following white RS7 Sportback with a VBOX data recorder and recorded a 0-62 mph time of just 3.38-seconds with two people onboard and four large pieces of luggage. The run to 124 mph (200 km/h) done in just 11.9 seconds and the quarter-mile took a mere 11.8 seconds.
Customer deliveries of the new RS7 Sportback will kick off this coming September with prices starting from 121,000 euros ($132,629) in Germany. Prices for other markets have yet to be announced.
