McLaren is hard at work developing its latest addition to the Ultimate Series of models in the form of an exclusive Speedster model. While we’ve got know doubt the car will look superb, we think McLaren may have a difficult time designing a car that looks better than the 720S-based Speedster you see pictured.
Chicago-based artist Charlie Automotive is responsible for this creation and to describe it as jaw-dropping beautiful would be an understatement.
Because the car is based on the 720S, it features many familiar parts. The rear, for example, is largely identical to the 720S Coupe and Spider models. Then we come to the front.

Gone are the controversial eye-socket headlights of the 720S and in their place sit equally eye-catching lights dominated by thin LEDs. There is also a bespoke grille filled with dozens of little holes to help feed air across the front brakes. Speedsters, complete with their barely-there windshields, almost always looks good and this car is no different.
Not only has Charlie Automotive designed a single piece of glass that encompasses both the windshield and the side windows but a pair of buttresses also sit directly behind the two seats. Then we come to what may be the most controversial aspect of the vehicle’s design; a huge air scoop sticking out of the rear decklid to feed the engine with cool air. We happen to think the scoop works well although we’re sure others would disagree.
