The first deliveries of Bentley’s first electrified model have begun, with the new Bentayga Hybrid marking the start of the brand’s journey towards electrification.

Bentley describes the Bentayga Hybrid as the world’s first true luxury plug-in hybrid and as their most fuel-efficient model ever made.

The British car maker plans to offer at least one electrified variant of all of its models by 2023, with the first all-electric Bentley scheduled to make its debut by 2025.

The new Bentley Bentayga Hybrid makes use of a 335 HP 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 petrol unit, combined with an electric motor for a combined output of 443 HP (449 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque.

A 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack enables Bentley’s SUV to travel on electric power alone for up to 24 miles (39 km). A full recharge takes 2.5 hours. The electric motor produces 126 HP and 295 lb-ft (400Nm) of torque.

0-60mph for the Bentayga Hybrid is a matter of 5.2 seconds (0-100km/h in 5.5) while top speed is rated at 158 mph (254 km/h). CO2 emissions are 79 g/km while combined fuel economy is rated at 80.7 mpg UK (3.5lt/100km). Bentley says that the total driving range is 464 miles (747 km).

“The delivery of the first Bentayga Hybrid models is an historic moment for Bentley, taking us a step closer to the roll-out of truly sustainable luxury mobility solutions,” said Peter Bosch, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Manufacturing. “As we prepare for the next 100 years, we are investing significantly in new initiatives that reinforce our commitment to sustainability, as demonstrated by the visionary all-electric Bentley EXP 100 GT concept.”

Prices before taxes for the new Bentley Bentayga Hybrid start from £133,100 in the UK, €141,100 across Europe or $160,000 in the US.
