The BMW Group has issued a recall for most of its 2018-2020 vehicles, including select Rolls-Royce models and the 2020 Toyota Supra, due to an issue with the reversing camera.

A recall notice published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveals that the display settings of the affected vehicles can be changed so that the rear camera view is turned off when the car is in Reverse. If such a change is made, the system will retain these settings the next time the car is driven.

If this all sounds familiar that’s because no less than 1.2 million Nissan and Infiniti models were recalled last month for exactly the same issue.

Consumer Reports notes that dealerships will update the reverse camera software free of charge to rectify the issue. The recall is expected to commence on November 19, 2019.

Impacted by the recall is the 2018 BMW 540d as well as 2018-2019 640i xDrive Gran Turismo and Rolls-Royce Phantom models. Affected vehicles from the 2018-2020 model years include the 530i, 530i xDrive, 540i, 540i xDrive, M550i xDrive, M5, 530e, 530e xDrive, X3 sDrive, X3 xDrive, X3 M40i, X3 M.

There are even more 2019-2020 vehicles involved, such as the X4 xDrive, X4 M40i, X4 M, X7 xDrive, , 740Li, 740Li xDrive, 750Li, 750Li xDrive, 8 Series Convertible and Coupe 840i, 840i xDrive, M850i xDrive, X5 sDrive, X5 xDrive, X5 M50i, X6 xDrive, X6 M50i, 330i, 330i xDrive, M340i, M340i xDrive, Z4 sDrive, Z4 M40i, 740Le xDrive and 745Le xDrive. Also being recalled are 2019 M850i xDrive Gran Coupe, 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and 2020 Toyota Supra models.
