Pininfarina is gearing up to the launch the Battista late next year, and a new report is suggesting the company will also introduce an electric crossover in 2020.
According to Auto Express, Pininfarina plans to unveil a new model every year and the next will be a crossover that is designed to compete with the Lamborghini Urus. It will reportedly be shown during mid-2020, but there’s no word on where or when exactly.
Little is known about the model at this point, but the crossover is slated to be significantly more affordable than the Battista which costs $2.2 (£1.7 / €2) million. Nothing is official, but the publication says the upcoming crossover will be priced around $316,327 (£250,000 / €286,475).

The model is slated to ride on an all-new platform that is being developed in collaboration with Bosch Engineering and Benteler. Pininfarina hasn’t said much about the architecture but, when it was introduced announced in September, CEO Michael Perschke stated it will be “specifically tailored to the luxury and performance electric vehicle plans of Automobili Pininfarina and potentially other carmakers looking to make progress in this sector.”
At the time, the company also released a sketch showing the platform will have a floor-mounted battery pack and an electric motor at each axle. This setup will enable vehicles based on the architecture to have all-wheel drive and impressive performance.
Previous reports have suggested the platform will be able to accommodate battery packs with a capacity of between 100 and 125 kWh. This could enable the company’s future EVs to have a range of up to 373 miles (600 km).
While the crossover could be introduced next year, it might be a couple of years before the model is actually launched. Pininfarina is still looking for a production site to build their upcoming vehicles and the company has previously said they would like to make them in Italy.
