Nurburgring fans wishing to experience a sporty electric car can now opt for a thrilling ride with the Jaguar I-Pace, the first EV to be used as a race taxi on the world’s most demanding track.

The electric Jaguar I-Pace joins the XE SV Project 8 in the company’s Nurburgring Race Taxi fleet, offering rides with a professional driver behind the wheel.

Jaguar’s first electric model is powered by two electric motors producing a combined 394 HP (400 PS) and 513 lb-ft (696 Nm) of torque. Energy is provided by a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, allowing the I-Pace to travel up to 292 miles (470 km) on a full charge per the WLTP (234 miles on EPA).

This is enough power to send the Jaguar I-Pace to 60mph from a standstill in 4.5 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.8), while top speed is set at 124 mph (200km/h).

Jaguar’s first EV has been generally praised for its rewarding handling, so adding some Race Taxi decals and throwing it into the Green Hell sounds like the right thing to do.

Jaguar claims that the I-Pace has what it takes to cope with the 73 very demanding corners of the Nurburgring and wants more people to experience it while doing so. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how the electric Jaguar can deal with prolonged fast driving around these parts.

The price for a Nurburgring lap with the Jaguar I-Pace for up to 3 people in the car is 149 euros ($164) while the same ride in the XE SV Project 8 will cost you 249 euros ($274).
