After completing the testing phase, during which Bentley used 142 prototypes and pre-production cars that traveled over 1 million miles (1.6 million km),the car maker has now started series production of the 2020 Flying Spur.

The company’s most advanced car ever built is assembled by hand by a team of nearly 200 employees in Crewe, England. Order books for the luxury sedan are already open and customer deliveries will commence in early 2020.

“The new Flying Spur is a leap forward in combining state of the art high technology with a modern ultra-luxurious interior and exterior”, said Member of the Board for Manufacturing, Peter Bosch. “Every single example is an artisanal piece of art, handcrafted using the finest authentic materials and surfaces that are unmistakably Bentley. The car delivers the duality of sports sedan agility and contemporary limousine refinement.”

Based on the same platform as the latest Continental GT, the new Flying Spur is powered by the 6.0-liter, twin-turbo W12. The engine produces 635 PS (626 HP / 467 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque, channeled to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Despite tipping the scales at nearly 2.5 tons (~5,500 lbs), Bentley claims that the new Flying Spur is one of the fastest luxury sedans in the world, requiring just 3.8 seconds for the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration, and maxing out at 333 km/h (207 mph).

Compared to its predecessor, the new Flying Spur’s wheelbase is 130 mm (5.1 in) longer, which translates into a very spacious rear passenger compartment. The whole interior lives up to the Bentley name, being extremely luxurious and getting features like the same tri-sided rotating screen, panoramic glass sunroof, wide selection of leather and wood trim, night vision and head-up display.
