VW’s 48-hour test drive offering now includes the Touareg, giving UK buyers the chance to put the arguably premium SUV through its paces for two full days before returning it to the dealership.
The Touareg is now VW’s second model to benefit from the automaker’s 48-hour test drive campaign, joining the e-Golf. With a starting price of £49,135 ($63,834), the Touareg is available in SEL 3.0 TDI V6 trim, with 231 PS (228 HP).
Meanwhile, a 286 PS (282 HP) version of that same engine is also available, as well as a 340 PS (335 HP) 3.0-liter V6 TFSI gasoline model. Opting for an R-Line or R-Line Tech trim means spending £52,635 ($68,381) and £55,735 ($72,409) respectively.
“The Touareg is a car that can rise to any challenge – it’s comfortable, capacious, capable, and quick. A 48-hour test drive allows customers to find all of this out for themselves, and to get to know all of the luxuries and technology that the Touareg has to offer,” stated VW UK Touareg product manager, Brian Luckie.
“By giving customers the opportunity to live with a Touareg for two whole days, we’re hoping they will get to bond with our flagship car. We’re confident that once the 48 hours are over and the car is returned, customers will be convinced by its skillset.”

In other markets such as Germany, the Touareg is also available with a larger 4.0-liter V8 TDI unit, producing 421 PS (415 HP) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. With the aid of an eight-speed automatic and permanent 4Motion all-wheel drive, the Touareg V8 TDI can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in just 4.9 seconds.
