The Audi Q3 was designed to appeal to millennials and the company is catering to that demographic by unveiling the Qnicorn.
As odd as that sounds, there’s some logic involved as Audi originally posted a picture of a unicorn-inspired Q3 on social media earlier this year. It was a hit with fans as the post racked up over 252,000 likes on Instagram and more than 4,400 reactions on Facebook. The picture was also extensively shared, so Audi of America decided to actually build it.
Created in time for Halloween, the Qnicorn is an automotive oddity as it features a 3 foot (914 mm) long horn that is covered in “shimmering gold paint” and “infused with glitter and hints of purple.” Besides the horn, the crossover has a pearlescent vinyl wrap that produces “dazzling rainbows” when exposed to light. Unfortunately, the weather was overcast when Audi did their photo shoot so the vehicle simply looks like a white Q3 with a weird horn on it.

Speaking of the horn, Audi’s legal team wasn’t thrilled with it and insisted the PR department include a disclaimer which reads “Do not attempt, or drive with props or inappropriate accessories installed. Injury or death can result.” While that would be tragic, we’re sure videos of a horned Q3 impaling pedestrians would get more shares than the original post.
Putting that aside, the crossover has also been equipped with an ambient lighting system that casts purple illumination throughout the cabin. Audi says this helps to bring a little magic into the interior.
While the horn isn’t an optional extra, the standard Q3 has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 228 hp (170 kW / 231 PS) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed transmission which sends power to a standard quattro all-wheel drive system. This enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 7.0 seconds
