Contrary to his nickname – Captain Slow, James May loves fast cars and, particularly, Ferraris. Over the years, he has owned quite a few of them, such as the 308 GTB or 458 Speciale.

His car collection also includes the marvelous Alpine A110, which is made by the resurrected Alpine brand under Renault Sport’s close watch, and rocks a mid-mounted 1.8-liter turbo-four with nearly 250 horses and rear-wheel drive.

The Porsche 718 Cayman rival starts at £46,905 in Pure and £50,805 ($60,662-$65,706) in Legende trims in the UK.

Aside from the rides that fascinate all most petrol heads, James May has others, too. A BMW i3 has also been parked in his garage for the past five years, sharing the same space with several scooters and motorcycles, as The Grand Tour presenter is also a fan of all cool things on two wheels, a passion shared with co-host Richard Hammond. Jeremy Clarkson, on the other hand, has a thing for yachts.

But this story is not about The Hamster or Jezza, but about May’s latest car. And if those lines visible from beneath the Ferrari cover don’t tell you anything, then perhaps you need to pay more attention to our news feed.

May’s new toy was not made in Maranello. It doesn’t have a mid-engine and rear-/all-wheel drive layout, nor a big V8 or V12 engine. In fact, it drives in complete silence, features vegan leather and a huge touchscreen display. It is very, very fast, though, and you can see for yourselves what model (pun intended) he chose in the video that follows. Or you can cheat and check out the tabs instead, but there’s no fun in that, obviously.

Fun fact, May also bought another car, and he’ll reveal what that is in a future video.
