One of the most hotly anticipated driver’s cars of the year, the BMW M2 CS, went official last week. It’s a last hurrah of the 2-Series Coupe before production of the outgoing iteration ends, and will stay on sale for one model year only.
This means that it’s time to check those finances again. If you live in Germany, you’ll have to shell out €95,000 (equal to $104,643), or almost as much as a new Porsche 911 Carrera, which starts at €104,655 ($115,278), whereas Brits will have to pay at least £75,320 ($96,184). We don’t know yet how much Americans will have to fork out, but it’s definitely going to command a premium over the $58,900 of the current M2 Competition.

The 3.0-liter, twin-turbo straight-six has been tuned to churn out 444 HP (450 PS / 331 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque, which are delivered to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Nonetheless, if the gear-changing process is not to your liking, then you can get the optional seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox instead.
Performance is truly outstanding, with the M2 CS needing only 4 seconds dead to get from zero to 60 mph (0-96 km/h). Go for the DCT, and you’re looking at 3.8 seconds, while top speed in both cases is 174 mph (280 km/h).
Now, BMW will likely host the media drive of the M2 CSnext year, as production is scheduled to commence in March, but if you can already watch it go sideways, as the official launch film right below has it all.
