It still seems kinda weird seeing the words ‘track-focused’ and ‘SUV’ next to each other, yet this is exactly what Lamborghini seems to be working on: a more extreme variant of the Urus.
Rumored on a number of different occasions, it was brought into discussion by AutomobileMag, who recently sat down with the company’s Chief Technical Director, Maurizio Reggiani.
“I think we will see [one]”, Reggiani said, when asked about a possible Urus Performante. “You know, at Lamborghini, years and years ago, at the time of the Gallardo, we defined this strategy. The Gallardo was the first one, and we continued with the Aventador and the Huracan.”

“So, we have the strategy, and we will maintain the strategy, but sometimes, it’s clear you need to invent or reinvent yourself in an order that cannot be predicted. This will be our target also for the Urus. It’s difficult to talk about Lamborghini without mentioning the past models.”
The extreme version of the Italian super SUV should boast a re-tuned chassis and calibration of the driving modes. Furthermore, the active aerodynamics from the Huracan Performante and Aventador SVJ might make their way into the package, too, along with a possible weight loss.
In all likelihood, it will retain the existing 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, albeit with more power, from the current 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque, to around 700 HP.
At the same time, another version of the Urus is also on its way, although this one will sport electrification. The plug-in hybrid model is thought to utilize the same powertrain as the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, with a rumored 680 HP on tap.
