This Porsche 911 Turbo-Powered VW T5 Bus Has A Central Driving Position

Renault arguably started the world’s fascination with souped-up minivans when it unveiled the Espace F1 back in 1994. In the decades since, minivans have become increasingly popular among tuning companies looking to create wild performance machines. This Volkswagen T5 Kombi is one of the finest we’ve come across.

The vehicle, currently up for sale from Autohaus Schiemann on Mobile.de in Germany, left the factory like any other K5 in 2004. According to the listing, it was crashed and this is, presumably, when the owner decided to make it unlike any other VW minivan.

For power, there is a 3.6-liter naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engine from a 996-generation Porsche 911 Turbo that has been uprated to now deliver a cool 638 hp and mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Next, the owner took some inspiration from the McLaren F1 and relocated the driver’s seat into the center of the cabin, completely re-designing the dashboard in the process. There is also a carbon fiber racing seat for the driver and two additional racing seats for the rear-seat passengers.

To ensure the 911-powered VW can brake just as quick as it accelerates, it features six-piston Brembo brake calipers at the front and four-piston Brembo brake calipers at the rear. There are also bespoke 19-inch wheels and a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires to stick the vehicle to the pavement. The vehicle also happens to be painted in the same shade of green as the 997-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

The van isn’t cheap. In fact, it has an asking price of €155,500 ($171,626) which is actually $10,000 more than a 2019 991.2 Turbo.
