Before unveiling the new generation Octavia earlier this week, Skoda said the RS and Scout models will be introduced next year.

The latter has been rendered into production by Kolesa, who rearranged the pixels on the lower parts of the body. Thus, the jacked-up version of the compact car gets plastic cladding, as well as small updates performed to the front and rear bumpers and a new set of alloy wheels.

The revised suspension, underbody protection and permanent all-wheel drive system will make it more capable off the beaten path than most cars in the segment. Nonetheless, don’t expect to do any serious off-roading in it, as it’s still based on the same revised version of the MQB platform that’s shared with the new Volkswagen Golf.

Some of the engines found in the regular fourth-gen Octavia will be carried over to the Scout model. However, don’t expect the 1.0 and 1.5 TSI petrol units, as these are not available with all-wheel drive. Don’t look for the 116 PS (114 hp / 85 kW) version of the 2.0 TDI diesel and 1.5 CNG due to the same reason. The only power units that come with the 4×4 system are the 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) 2.0 TSI petrol and 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) and 200 PS (197 hp / 147 kW) 2.0 TDI diesel, so these are the most likely candidates for the job.
