Toyota has revealed that it will return to the world of Microsoft’s Forza video game franchise with none other than one of its icons.
In announcements made both on Twitter and Facebook, it was revealed that the legendary Mk4 1998 Toyota Supra RZ will arrive in Forza Horizon 4 through an update on December 12th.
To hear that Toyota will soon make the Supra available on Forza Horizon 4 is a bit of a surprise as, in August, the company infamously took to Twitter to state that it didn’t want its vehicles featured in games that “promote illegal street racing,” hence why Toyota’s are only available on Gran Turismo Sport.
Oh how things have changed: Toyota Says Its Cars Aren’t In Need For Speed Heat Because Game Promotes “Illegal Street Racing”
At the time, the company released a statement that read: “Officially, Toyota Motor Corporation has no concrete plans to license its model range to any other games besides Gran Turismo Sport at the moment. We’ll be really excited to share our future plans with you as soon as we’re able to.”
For quite some time it was believed that Polyphony Digital, the makers of the Gran Turismo, had an exclusive licensing deal with Toyota, hence why the Japanese carmaker’s vehicles weren’t featured in other popular racing titles like those from the Need for Speed franchise, V-Rally 4, The Crew 2, Dirt Rally 2.0, and Forza Horizon 4. Apparently, this is not the case.
It has yet to be revealed if the Mk4 Supra will arrive as part of a paid DLC or if it will be added to the game free of charge, but we bet Toyota’s gaming enthusiasts hope more of its models will be added to the Forza franchise in the future.
