It has been nine months since the Koenigsegg Jesko was unveiled to the world, and what appears to be the first video of the hypercar starting up has found its way online.
The short clip appears to have been filmed in Koenigsegg’s Swedish factory and offers a glimpse of what the car’s insane powertrain has to offer. The Koenigsegg staffer sitting in the driver’s seat is also kind enough to quickly rev up the engine.
A Hypercar For A New Generation: Koenigsegg Stuns The World With New 300MPH Jesko Hypercar
The Koengisegg Jesko is special for a number of reasons. First and foremost, it is fitted with a heavy modified, twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 that promises to be superior to any other engine from the company before it.
Among the upgrades made to the engine are the fitment of a flat-plane 180-degree crankshaft that results in an 8,500 rpm redline and provides the hypercar with a visceral new sound. In addition, the turbochargers are connected directly to a small electric compressor driving air into them and eliminating turbo lag. Running on E85 fuel, Koenigsegg says the engine is good for 1,578 HP and 1,106 lb-ft (1,500 Nm) of torque.
Another awesome piece of technology found in the Jesko is the Light Speed Transmission that’s been designed with multiple clutches and doesn’t feature traditional synch rings. The design means drivers can shift directly between any gear; for example, a downshift from 6th to 3rd can happen almost instantly.
Koenigsegg will cap production of the Jesko to 125 units worldwide, each carrying a price tag of roughly $3 million before taxes.
