A heavily-modified 1956 Ford F-150 will be auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson at the company’s Scottsdale event later this month.

The builder of this F-100 was looking to create a retro pickup with a huge amount of power and managed to source the screaming 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 of a Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 that’s good for 526 hp and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque. Mated to this engine, which sports a flat-plane crank, is the six-speed manual ‘box, also out of a GT350.

Of course, simply dropping in the engine of a GT350 into a pickup truck from the 1950s would be a recipe for disaster so this F-100 also features a custom boxed chassis that’s been designed to handle all that modern-day power. The truck also features a custom Kooks exhaust system and has been adorned with a series of new external parts. For example, there are new running boards, widened front and rear fenders, shaved turn signals, LED head- and taillights, and a matte black paint finish.

Modifying a classic pickup truck like an early F-100 can be hit and miss, but it looks like this builder did an excellent job with the car. There are some very nice interior trimmings, for example, that complement the exterior modifications as well as the work that has gone on beneath the skin.

No pre-auction estimate has been given for the pickup, but we suspect it’ll attract quite a lot of attention when it hits the auction block.
